STONES
We have a unique
tradition at Followers of Christ Church. Since we don't have an
official Membership Roll, we have instituted something called "Being
a STONE in the House of the Lord." It began when Pastor David
preached about the stone memorial that Joshua left in the middle of
the Jordan. He called for "Stones" among us that would take a stand
and be pillars in the church. An amazing number of hands shot up
from the congregation. From that was birthed the idea of real stones
engraved with our names, to be placed in a memorial garden fountain
at the church. Below are photos of some whose names are "written in
stone."
These
are a few of the STONES as they were lying outside the Sanctuary,
waiting to be placed in the Memorial Garden by their owners.

Each carries his or her own
STONE. A prayer of dedication is said before placing them ...

The STONES are carried to a
(temporary) spot behind our church signs.

The Memorial Garden Fountain
will be built, using these stones as a foundation.

The Zambian Acapella Choir
graced us twice with their sweet
presence and unique sounds. These young men came to the United States from
very humble circumstances. They easily won our hearts ...
This photo was taken in our sanctuary back in
the mid 90's. What we didn't know at the time was that these boys were being used by their
Texas-based host, who later was accused of human trafficking. The group was disbanded
and later re-formed under thenew name: ZAMBIAN VOCAL GROUP. For more
information about them
go to their website: http://www.zambianvocalgroup.com/
Their unique music is available
on CD's that can be purchased now.

OUR NEW CHURCH SIGNS

After years of doing without a proper set of
signs, we finally had a company come and make us some from steel and aluminum.
Hopefully they will last a long time.
